ETHIOPIA’S SURVEILLANCE STATE TARGETS THE OROMO, HRW

(OPride) — The Ethiopian government uses its monopoly over the telecommunications system to curtail the right to privacy, freedoms of expression, access to information and lawful opposition activities, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a comprehensive report released last week.

For years or two decades the regime in Ethiopia is still a hegemonic in its dominance in electoral politics in the country. The so called EPRDF is still dominating the political landscape of the country with many harsh methods and ruthless actions.

The paradox in the Ethiopian Economy

It is a cliche from the Ethiopian government that the Ethiopian Economy has recorded a double digit growth in the past eight or nine years. Though there are many who questions the rate, the government is adamant to accept a rate less than double digit. It asserts its argument by citing the construction of roads, hydroelectric dams and sky scrapers in big cities as indicators of fast economic growth in the country.

Mass Grave Discovered in Addis Ababa

A mass grave has been discovered in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, containing at least 6 bodies of young men, who may have been executed in the past few years.
